FAQs

Yes. Ideally I meet with the family and get to know the child prior to the IPRC meeting. I assess what services the family needs, and make note of services and accommodations that are already in place for the child and for the family unit. In rare cases I am able to attend meetings at short notice.

Unfortunately those in postitions of authority sometimes have difficulty seeing past labels. In order for a person's rights to be fully actualised they need to first be seen as a person. My presence reminds the authority figure to adjust their perceptions of the individual they are meeting, to see them as a whole, valued person. My presence allows the individual to know they are not alone, and that they are empowered.

I have accompanied people with varying needs and challenges as they have had to report incidences to police and others as they have sought appropriate provincial funding. I have helped people get appropriate compensation from former employers and helped others to obtain employment. Please message me with your specific situation, and I can let you know if I have experience in that area, or if I can be of assistance.

In the past I have spoken as an Autism Household expert and on panels for Companies that wish to enlighten their staff as well as for peers, major charities and parent groups. My focus now is on assisting individuals, however I am still available for public speaking if the venue is appropriate. Please message me, providing as much detail as possible, to see if I am available to present at your event.
